Get in touch
Cobalt Charters is a private boat charter service based in Seal Beach, running trips throughout Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Dana Point, Marina del Rey and the wider Los Angeles coastline. Every charter includes a licensed captain, which means the person at the helm reads the conditions on the day and takes your group where the water actually suits the activity. We handle towed watersports, scuba dive support, boating instruction, corporate team days and private celebration charters, all from one well maintained boat.
Our pricing is published rather than quoted on request, because the Southern California charter market is full of low headline rates that grow at the dock once fuel, equipment and gratuity are added. The rate you see is the rate you pay: $1,400 for four hours, $1,500 for six, and $1,600 for eight, with captain, water toys and fuel already included. We hold five star ratings on Google, Yelp and Boatsetter, and we are happy to be judged on all three. Our aim is simple: give guests a safe, well run day on the water and be honest with them about what it costs.
Wakesurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing and inner tubing all run from the same boat within a single session. We provide the boards, ropes and vests, while the captain shapes the wake to suit each rider, from complete beginners to experienced surfers.
A private dive platform for certified divers who need a boat rather than an instructor. Our team takes your group to local sites, handles tank and gear logistics on board, and provides surface support throughout the dive.
Instruction for two different goals: learning to operate a boat with confidence, and learning a towed watersport properly. We work with new boat owners who need practical time at the helm, including practice with docking, maneuvering and handling traffic.
Charters built for teams rather than friend groups, with capacity planning, scheduling around a work calendar, catering arrangements, invoicing and a written weather contingency. Our eight-hour booking at $1,600 gives most teams the time and flexibility they need.
Birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, anniversaries and family days on the water. Bring your own food, drinks and decorations, and let our captain handle the boat and the flow of the day while you enjoy the time with your group.
A captain is included on every charter: You are not renting a boat and hoping for the best. A captain who knows these waters is at the helm, which matters most on days when the wind is up and finding usable flat water takes local knowledge rather than luck.
Published pricing with nothing added at the dock: $1,400 for four hours, $1,500 for six hours and $1,600 for eight hours. Captain, water toys and fuel are all inside that figure. There is no fuel surcharge, no equipment rental fee and no surprise line item at the end of the day.
Five star reviews on three separate platforms: Our record is public on Google, Yelp and Boatsetter, each verified independently by the platform itself. Many charter operators are visible on one platform and absent from the others, which makes their reputation harder to check.
Local knowledge across six coastal markets: Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Dana Point, Marina del Rey and Los Angeles each behave differently depending on wind, swell and season. We will tell you honestly which launch point suits your activity on the date you have in mind.
One boat, maintained to one standard: We are not a fleet operator assigning whichever vessel happens to be free. The boat you book is the boat you get, kept by the same person who runs your charter.
Enjoy a private boat experience with simple, all-inclusive pricing.

This was my second time with Cobalt Charters and Captain Dan! The experience with him gets better and better every time. Captain Dan was so kind and patient as we learned how to wakeboard and wake surf. He even gave us amazing suggestions to improve what we’re doing and he took the best pictures of us as we were doing it! Definitely going to reach out to him again soon to do a third boat day! I can’t recommend him enough. Thank you, Captain Dan!!![]()

That covers four hours on the water, the captain, all fuel and the water toys, which include boards, ropes, vests and tubes. There is no separate equipment charge and no fuel surcharge added afterwards. Food, drinks and gratuity are not included. Six hours is $1,500 and eight hours is $1,600, so the longer bookings work out considerably better per hour if you have the day free.
No experience is required. A good share of our charters include people who have never stood on a board before. The captain adjusts boat speed and wake shape to suit each rider and starts beginners in the easiest configuration. Experienced riders get a properly shaped wake instead, and both can happen within the same four hour session on the same boat.
We monitor the forecast and speak to you before your booking rather than after it. If conditions would make the day unsafe or simply unpleasant, we reschedule you at no penalty. We would rather move a charter than take payment for a trip nobody enjoys. For corporate bookings we agree the contingency in writing at the point of booking, since those groups rarely have the flexibility to rearrange at short notice.
Yes. Bring whatever food and soft drinks you like, along with towels, sunscreen and a change of clothes. Alcohol depends on the group and the type of charter, so raise it when you book and we will tell you where we stand. The captain remains sober throughout regardless, which is a large part of the reason one is included.
Summer weekends fill first, so two to three weeks of notice is sensible for July and August. Midweek dates and shoulder season are often available within a few days. We are based in Seal Beach and launch from whichever harbour best suits your group and the conditions, whether that is Long Beach, Huntington Harbour, Newport, Dana Point or Marina del Rey. Dana Point and Marina del Rey sit roughly 30 miles out, so those dates need a little more scheduling flexibility.
We operate from Seal Beach and run charters along the coast, from the marinas of west Los Angeles down through Long Beach and into south Orange County. Each harbour offers something different in terms of protected water, ocean access and travel time, so it helps to tell us where you would like to launch when you first get in touch.
If you are unsure which area suits your group, ask us. We will give you a direct answer on drive times, likely water conditions and what each harbour does best.
